Foot reflexology in Zrenjanin: what the treatment is like

Reflexology is a foot treatment in which the therapist uses thumb pressure on specific zones of the soles, toes and heel. It begins and ends with a classic foot massage, it does not tickle, and most people experience it as deep relaxation. At Fizio Spa in Zrenjanin it lasts 30, 45 or 60 minutes and is a good choice when you are tired, tense or on your feet all day.

What is reflexology?

The idea that pressing certain points on the body can help you feel well is an old one. The Chinese developed acupressure thousands of years ago, and foot massage was part of personal care in ancient China, Japan, India and Egypt. Modern reflexology is based on zone theory: the body is divided into ten longitudinal zones, and the feet are seen as a “map” of those zones.

The foot has many nerve endings and responds well to touch, which is why reflexology is most often done on the soles, although there are also reflex zones on the hands and the outer ear. It is important to be honest: reflexology is not a method for making a diagnosis and does not replace a medical examination. What it reliably gives you is relaxation, less tension and lighter legs.

What is the treatment like, step by step?

  1. Preparation: gentle loosening of the feet, ankles and the small bones of the foot.
  2. A classic foot massage of about 15 minutes, so that you relax and the foot becomes more receptive to pressure.
  3. Work on the reflex zones: the therapist moves with the thumbs through the zones of the sole, from the toes towards the heel, lingering on spots that are tense or sensitive.
  4. Special attention to the inner edge of the foot, which reflexology associates with the spine.
  5. A short closing foot massage.

If you feel discomfort at any point, tell the therapist. The pressure is adjusted to you, and the treatment should be pleasant, not something you have to endure.

Who does reflexology suit?

  • people who are on their feet all day and have heavy, tired feet in the evening,
  • when you are tense, stressed and find it hard to switch off,
  • as a complement to other treatments, for example with a massage or sauna,
  • those who do not like full-body massage but want to relax.

At Fizio Spa you can book reflexology on its own or as part of the Detox package (body scrub, sauna and aromatherapy massage, with reflexology free of charge).

When should reflexology be postponed?

Reflexology is a gentle treatment, but it is not for everyone at every moment. Wait, or seek advice first, if you:

  • are in the first trimester of pregnancy (later only with caution and by arrangement),
  • have a raised temperature or an acute infection,
  • have kidney stones or gallstones,
  • have an injury, wound, fungal infection or skin inflammation on the foot,
  • have thrombosis or are being treated for a blood vessel problem.

If you are not sure, call us before booking and we will assess together whether reflexology is a good choice.

How long does it take and how often should you go?

Reflexology at Fizio Spa lasts 30, 45 or 60 minutes. For a first time we recommend 45 minutes. Some people have it once a month as a relaxation ritual, others more often during periods of stress or fatigue. Current prices are in the price list.

Frequently asked questions

No. The pressure is firm and even, so most people, even those with sensitive soles, do not feel ticklish.
